I sat in my truck in a state of depression this morning. Not much confidence in this farm based on 18 years of observing the "vacuum" effect of the rut. For whatever reason, mainly habitat, the rut pulls all the deer off the farm into other areas in the neighborhood. Finally decided to sit at the intersection of the hollers where Kaydence killed her buck last year. It's the hub of the farm and with another calm, blue bird morning, the thermals will have a strong pull straight up and out of this bottom. I can see/here a good bit of ground, so calling could work. If I get shots, they'll be the kind I like. Plus this buddy stand is a comfy sit!

With my shitshow of a start I decided to do an observation sit to see how the deer transition from the food in the mornings. 2 bucks, 3 does seen so far. Could've killed 2 of the 3 deer from the parking lot.
Anyone else thinking about eating a Christmas tree or 3 for breakfast? Or just my loser fat ass? Good talk...gonna go be depressed now and eat 4.

Levi and I are back in. Same section of public, sitting near the top of this ridge where he saw over a dozen deer last night. I bought another tag in the parking lot this am so if a mature doe gives me an opportunity I’ll take it. We can hear deer moving around in the bottom now, it’s a crispy morning, ready to shed more blood! Not ready for the drag tho

First sit of rutcation. Wind wasn’t great for where I really wanted to hunt. Hope the thermals and this wind push my scent out of here. Just had a small 8 walk 3 circles around me trying to figure out my scent drag. Feels good to be out. Good luck everyone!
There are about 7,489 too many squirrels on this farm. I may take a year off deer hunting and try to eradicate them

Guess I picked the right stand. Heavy wide 8 just pushed a doe through the funnel. Grabbed my bow as I thought he was a different deer and then I saw the short broke tines. He got the blood flowing and made me shake lol.
I decided to make a move back to the stand that sets up great for midday cruising. My hunch was right as I bumped a BRUISER on my way back here FML
