Had some great intel yesterday morning that caused me to bomb into a new spot and hang a mobile set. Sat all day in the stupid wind. At 5:30, my #1 target buck stood up from his bed about 100 yards away. Long story short, we worked away from me, eventually getting to about 300 yards before I tried rattling. He didn’t like that and took off on a trot. I climbed down and took off on a sprint to try to cut him off, but to no avail.

Needless to say, another good wind direction for this set so I’m back out here again. Just got settled in for the afternoon. Halloween has always been a special day, but November 1st just hits different. Especially on the leading edge of a much needed cold front. As Stalekracker would say, “Let’s get it dude.”

I just asked myself what Mark Drury would do. He'd pick a beautiful, secluded food plot tight to bedding known to hold does ✅️ He'd have a scrape tree ✅️ and he'd say "hunt low of an evening" ✅️, so I'm back where I spent the morning. I'm on a mission to kill a deer where/how I want to this year and if it doesn't work, that's fine. Killing one in this plot over that scrape or coming to check does in the plot, seems like the "made for TV" moment I'm after this season. We'll see how it plays out. No matter what, this view makes me happy 😎

First sit of the year. Farmer picking the last standing corn around. Just had a couple young deer bound by as the combine came this way.
