It’s hot, but I’m hoping that plays to my advantage by sitting on the ground next to some water. I’ve had deer come get a drink while duck hunting so we’ll see what happens.
I just jumped a nice buck and coyote laying 10 yards from the pond waters edge behind my house while checking the water level just now.
The plan almost came together but I had one deer… a friggin’ spike, come downwind on me. He hit my scent and started getting anxious. He never blew or busted the field but it was enough to disrupt the other deer coming in. Then 3 does came in at last light but stayed out of range. They drank and went on their way.
All the fun and none of the mess.

Lets hope the bottom temp moves a little more and kills off those damn midges and stops the EHD mess for '25.

Anyone calling off Thursday or Friday? I am considering... But I need to see some more action on my camera before I do.
Only have class Wednesday morning and free all day Thursday…. Looking forward to not hunting in shorts 
It's weird seeing this front and not being prepared to hunt it. Shaping up to be a kick ass Wed/Thurs for those that are getting out.

The boy doesn’t have school Friday so he asked me take him to Camp. Weather looks improved for hunting so we plan to go Thursday afternoon. Shortly I’ll be spending the next 3 hours at home on the mower to create room in my forthcoming hunting schedule. In the back of my mind I was going to stay home this weekend since I already have 2 in the freezer. I don’t want to complete my season so soon. If I’m buck successful there’s always Fall steelhead season as I never allocate time for it.

Not live from my stand, but on our daily walkabout. Bristol saw them first and froze in her locked on prey mode.
When I got up to her I didn’t see anything. Then they popped out of the culvert. Played peekaboo for about a minute then two hauled the mail out of there but I did manage to get the third and slower one before it followed the others.
This is a first for me seeing them here. Not sure if they’re resident or just moving through.
