Barney got real lucky last night, he came within 23 yds but never provided a solid ethical shot. Beat myself for the last shot, knew better... Waited two days to head back to that stand. Was at full draw three times. SMDH... two does were in the plot and he chased and bumped them but never presented a clean shot. could have 'Bleated' to try and stop him but then if it didnt work he'd never be back.

Meanwhile right after he chased the does off two other bucks came in and did the foreleg stretch at 21yds in the oats.....

He's not seen me or smelled me at that stand, at the risk of burning it out, I'll be back there tonight. Patterning them is just about over.

I’ve been set up since 10:30. A little later than I planned but it’s all good. Riding this out until dark. Saw my #1 target buck about 1/4 mile away this morning when I ran the kids to school. He was chasing does in the open field. Not expecting much tonight but here goes nothing.

Had a steady E wind up until the sun popped up above the trees that lead to some swirling wind at a very unfortunate time. Had one blow, and split at around 50 yards. Sat until 10 and snuck out. Just ate lunch, going to take an exam I’ve been putting off then getting back in there this afternoon.

All my years of doing this I can't remember ever seeing this much chasing the last week of October
Here where I live, this last week of October always seems to be one of the best times to be in the woods. Very consistent for me anyway. I think the cool temps we’re experiencing lately are really kicking things into gear also.

Yep—agree. cooler temps may be making it more comfortable for bucks to run. We’ve had some bad Indian summers last 5 years. Going to try go low impact on my woods til Rutcation starting November 7th through the next week. I little later than I normally would but seems like I’ve seen most of my jaw dropper big buck daylight pics between the 9th and 16th or so. Hopefully I don’t find myself sitting in a tree with them largely on lockdown. But they eventually have to find a new willing girlfriend.
