LIVE from the stand 2025-26

Sitting almost every evening this week reminds me how much hunting the rut sucks. 99 out of 100 hunts you will get skunked or be in the wrong spot but like I told savannah tonight after getting skunked it only takes one hunt to change your luck and that's why we keep going back for more.
One good minute...will change your whole season! 🤣

Stay with it. The rut came early this year with the temps. We are in full lock down at my place. It changed in 2-3 days. All it takes is the right doe. There will be alot of hours in the stand but it will pay off if you have the motivation.

Packed and cleaned up this AM. Took a couple hours me time after running the 'leaving' checklist. Stogie and hot unpasteurized cider with a cinnamon stick on the deck under the heaters. Just like i used to make with my dad on the old farm. Down with the grandbabys in TN tonight. Mooch left mid-day yesterday.

Figured I'd give the winners in this round a nice prize. A bushel of appels & 50#'s of godlen acorns. Love autumn in TOO.

There's probably not a deer on this farm based on the cams the last few days. Not even sure why I'm out other than stubbornness and stupidity. At least I have some cool spots to sit and wallow in misery.

Because you love the process, not the end goal. Hope it's a relaxing sit.

I think I just held my breath the longest ever ...lol. The doe & fawn walked up to me & the the fawn got a whiff of me . It started running around, back & forth, but momma never caught on. Saving grace perhaps, the neighbor came out & left in their car. Mom probably thought that's what riled up the young'n. Today's youth are smarter than we realize ...haha

I have to be the luckiest sob in the woods without having shot a buck ...lol. I brought my rattlin antlers & left them outside the blind so when using, they'd sound better. I decided to get out & try a sequence after those deer left. This blind is a smaller type & it's a pain in the ass to get in & out, but perfect for this setup. Anyway, when I got out, there were two deer nearby standing out on the other side of some brush & foilage, looking my way. I didn't know if a buck was with them or what, so, I crawled back in, only thing I could do...lol They came out front where the other two were, sniffed around my way & continued out into the field to eat. Lead doe is staring into the opposite side woods now. Other deer are joining. I did smoke up my jacket in yesterday's fire I had, so hopefully had an impact.

I think I'll be full of stories this week...lol

Very little percentage of deer hunting has anything to do with the deer. Cleanse that soul in that beautiful spot!
