Went out this morning and it was pretty windy, decided to get out before a tree fell on my head. No deer sightings.

Same! Nothing to report but tomorrow I will be out in the morning because it's going to get super cold out! :) had a large branch fall right behind me so I hopped out of the stand and drug it back and now have kindling wood which is good

had a huge limb fall onto another stand I have set up from last season, glad I wasn't in it!

Dang Ben! That could have been devastating! I often wonder during long lulls on an all dayer when sitting in a particular tree if it were to fall over while I'm in it just what would be my choice of action:

1. Do my best to swing myself around to the side away from impact and ride it down.
2. Disconnect myself from my harness and leap to a smaller tree and bear hug it or grab for a sturdy limb.
3. Start praying and hope for the best.
4. Just shit myself and hope I at least survive and not hurt too badly.

I once had a oak limb(deadfall) about the size of a baseball bat but not quite as thick on the fat end fall and hit me square on the head on a clear and calm day during the rut. I was still hunting an oak flat below a saddle and it came out of nowhere and damn near knocked me out! I dropped my bow and rolled and sat there on my ass wondering what the hell just happened! I thought for a second that someone played a trick on me as I looked around before gathering myself and my gear to resume hunting. I must have looked pretty silly and if the animals could laugh I'm sure Ida got a standing O!lol

No hunting for us today. The downside of the pizza world is that Friday is pretty much a work all stinking day kinda deal. Mason has two baseball games tomorrow, so no hunting in the afternoon and I doubt we'll go in the morning either. We will likely hit it on Sunday evening. Gonna be a long couple of days waiting to get back after 'em! Good luck to all of you that can get out. Cooler temps should help with movement I'd think.

I was just wondering what my girlfriend and I should get for dinner tonight, pizza it is! And Sunday evening should be as good as tomorrow, should be a nice calm night! Best of luck to you!

Haha while sitting in the stand today I was thinking the same thing! I was like if this tree falls over right now I don't even know what I would do, I think I would probally crawl around the back side because I would still be strapped in it. Would be very interesting but also I hope no one ever has to experience this or come near it. And that must of hurt like a son of a gun! The squirrels were probally dieing watching it unfold though

I'm pumped for this weekend. Shaping up to be a pretty solid couple of days to be in the woods.

Going from 62 degrees yesterday morning to about 40 should really turn the woods upside down and get bucks to really start slamming food sources. I haven't stopped putting corn out so my bucks that disappeared will reappear tomorrow morning

I've been keeping an eye on this thread for a couple of days, getting excited for my first sit of the season. Windy and rainy and not as cold as I expected, but I wouldn't be anywhere else in the world right now. Haven't seen anything yet but the night is young. I'll be back out in the morning and then done for the weekend. Hopefully start the season off right! Haven't posted before but I've been reading and y'all are a great group! I would post a pic but my phone won't let me. This is only my third season but I'm officially addicted...
