I am not. BUT. . . with 2 weeks off for Christmas break and soccer over, I put a bug in my son's ear yesterday. Asked him if he wanted to go shooting while on break. He smiled and said "Yeah. Maybe. It sounds like fun." So I pushed the envelope. "What about shooting your crossbow some and trying a hunt or two?" Shrugged his shoulders and said "That sounds fun too." Would be well worth it to hit the stand again if he wanted to get out. Crossing my fingers.
Not looking good for me toll muzzleloader. Might be able to get out for a few on sunday. I just found out yesterday I have to work a shut down over christmas. I'll have christmas day off, but that's it till new years. Finish strong I guess.
First archery sit since before thanksgiving due to weddings and holidays. Man it feels good. So good I don't even care if I get skunked, just blessed to be out.
Yep nice to see some of you out there.Just spent yesterday washing and storing my bowhunting gear for the yr.
Time to catch some yotes.
Might try and get some time to go down to my buddy's place and hunt some hogs.Woud love to get one with the recurve.
Looks good! Did you make sure to pick out all the cartilage in the nasal cavity?
I think I got this tip from Ric and Ron, place paper towels over the top of the skull while soaking it in peroxide. Use a "booger sucker" to keep them wet. That way you don't have to stick the whole skull in and risk getting the antler bases whitened.
Ya thanks guys, that's the plan. My dad did one on my first and only whitetail buck a few years ago so we already have some of that 40% peroxide salon stuff. I was up til past midnight trying to get all that crap out of the sinuses, not most peoples idea of a good Saturday night lol. It definitely would've been easier with a pressure washer
Good luck to anyone still out. On one hand, I understand the frustration of not filling a tag yet but on the other hand I sort of envy you. I haven't been hunting in a month and I'm really missing it. I think I may try to spread my tags out over a longer period next year. September is a long way away.
