Day 1 in the books. I saw a couple deer, heard some coyotes in the distance, and made it out in one piece. Not a bad day.

I would without a doubt! I offered to pay for my neighbor to build a backstop... It never made it to that, but he now has one.

Good Lord were the skeeters bad today! I had the thermacell going and it still wasn't enough! Those last thirty minutes tonight were brutal.

Couldn't hunt tonight. Two kids heading to the homecoming dance. My wife wanted me there. Lots of season left. No reason to object. Did get to glass the main bean field I have been watching. There were 10-12 deer in there feeding at last light. Half of them in bow range. Not sure if any of them were shooters. Had my wife with me and she really didn't want to sit there glassing. I'll give her credit though. She got out of the car, grabbed some binos and checked them out with me. Deer hunting isn't her thing. We had dinner in the car waiting on us. She earned some points. Then again, I earned some by helping her out. Team effort.
