Awesome Phil! Sounds like a great night out. I forgot my bow and I was 20 minutes from home to get it. Went and got it and hunted a spot near home. I get set up and two dogs come running and barking through the woods. I got down and went home. Not really angry. I just needed a break after yesterday. I honestly was wanting an excuse to not go. Got home in time to see the end of the Browns beating and take a nap. I will try again tomorrow. Trying to put the giant out of my mind that I missed yesterday. It's not happening.

Sounds like fun, Phil! He had to look nice seeing as how that pic is from 3 years ago!

He isn't a scoring machine. We didn't care. He is wider, longer main beams, heavier, but not much taller. Garrett was making the decision. He would have been happy with the 4pt we tried to stop. Got to keep the perspective of an 11yr old in mind. He has never killed a buck. ANY antlers were good enough for him. Trust me, I asked him if he was sure as it was coming our way. He was positive he wanted to shoot it. I will NOT tell him he can't shoot. If it had spots I would tell him no. When it was too dark, I told him no. Size of the antlers is not a reason for me to tell him no.

Hell yeah hicks! The little man got a good taste! He'll never be the same. He's screwed like the rest of us!!

Credit to you for taking him out!!!! Awesome

I am trying not to push him. Last night we had a hot doe and a couple 1.5yr old bucks chasing one around. She wasn't quite ready. Garrett was on the fence and said he wanted a break. He asked if they would still be chasing next weekend. I told him "Probably somewhere. No guarantees we will have them chasing in the area of our buddy stands. Last night we had a hot doe in the area. Tonight we are hunting. This is your best chance kid." Guess I sort of made him go tonight, but I am glad I went on my instinct. I won't push him anymore this week. Maybe next weekend I will nudge a little, but not getting pushy. Nights like tonight sure help fan the growing flame.

I'm in the same boat with Kody. He has pretty much lost interest because he has had no luck.

Klay is always wanting to go. It's hard for me not to force Kody. Crazy, I thought he'd be the hunter and not Klay. I think Kody will come around, but he's in that lazy teen mode.

But I hear where you're coming from, Phil. I wish he'd go more, but can't force him.

My son always wanted too go with me until around 15, still went but didn't have the drive of years past.... Came back too him at 20 and now at 27 and down in SC he texts me at we're going rabbit hunting on thanksgiving for sure is year lol... We've been doing this since before he was born and he was 5 on his first one and still looks forward too it....

Bring him up here for a weekend this winter. I'll stack the odds in his favor

Glad you had a good night Phil. Them youngsters need that on occasion to help fan the flames.

Like to see Kodys luck change too. Even I have to admit it's boring sometimes!

Seen NOTHING. When I left I stopped down the road and talked to one of the other guys hunting the property. He didn't see anything either. Truck running in the middle of the road lights on the whole 9 yards talking to this guy and a small 6pt decides to walk across the road at 7:15 lol.
