So a group of us have been going to Canada on a regular basis for a week long fish camp for a number of years.
You know the kind of place, with cabins and docks and boat rentals and not too fancy.
Well, Covid put the squash on us last year, and it looks like the border is gonna be closed again until at least September.
Has anyone got anywhere in Michigan or KY that they've stayed at and had a good experience?
Would even consider Minnesota.

Minnesota just depends on how far you want to go. You can go to Crane Lake up north on the border of Canada. Voyager Resort is nice. If you wanted to go a little further south you have Lake of the Woods.

Been told the by several acquaintances that the crappie lakes in Kentucky and Tennessee are over fished and not very good. I believe they provide a cottage, boat, etc on these small lakes that are advertised to loaded with crappie and bass. One acquaintances I worked with caught 3 bullhead in 4 days

@Dustinb80 goes some place with some guys, I wouldn't suggest that one. It doesn't seem like any of them catch more than a buzz and memories. Is that what you are looking for or to actually fill the freezer?

Maybe a lifelong trip of a lifetime to Alaska? I mean if you take the money saved from last year and add it to this year, could make it happen. Even if you had to plan for next year. I think it would be worth it and make up for the sacrifice made here. Or maybe a trip down south, triple_duece seems to always be on fish.

I guess not that you can make up for lost time, but you have my brain rolling on how to spend your money 😂

Would like to do some freezer filling.
Would prefer clear water to brown; would rather go north than south.
The more remote the better.
Jon mentioned Crane Lake and I found what looks like a possibility
This is the kind of spot we're looking for

Bumping this back to the top.
Just got back from Canada and had a great time, but still looking for something stateside.
Gonna give Lake Gogebic a hard look, and I've convinced folks that MN might not be too far to drive.
Any input would be appreciated.

I follow this guy on FB and boy did he bring in the fish for his clients. Lake trout, salmon, etc. on the big waters. He also rents cabins and can provide you with boats and motors to do your own fishing on the lake next to his camp. I know he mentioned that he is transitioning over to bear guiding for the rest of the year so I think he stops guiding for fish this time of year.
