Looking for experience/opinions about Nissan

So my SIL is looking for a truck and asked me what I thought about a Nissan Frontier.
I have zero experience with Nissan, so I'm throwing it out here.

FYI this is what the AI Overview says:
While the 2025 Nissan Frontier has a "Great" reliability rating, slightly higher than the 2025 Toyota Tacoma, both trucks are known for their dependability. The Frontier has a J.D. Power reliability score of 84/100, while the Tacoma scores 79/100. This suggests the Frontier might offer a slightly better overall dependability experience.

Personally I've owned and had great experiences with Mazda, Honda, and Toyota, so I'd assume Nissan would be the same. Let me know your thoughts.

I gotta buy a new truck this fall... The Nissan Frontier has been overall my first choice... Why??? The number one reason it's V6 motor... NO TURBO CHARGER BULLSHIT... Just another thing to go wrong... Everything today has turbo chargers... Let's get back to basics... Maybe cut the cost of a vehicle... Another thing I like is the computer screen is built into the dash, not plopped on top sticking up like someone set a lap top on your dash... Only thing that has me leaning elsewhere is the fact I'm a big guy therefore head room and shoulder room come into play... Dodge is putting the smaller V8 hemi back in the Ram trucks come fall... I think your SIL would be happy with the frontier... Plus it's a little cheaper than other midsize trucks...

Oh... One other thing I probably need something bigger to make my deliveries to Ohio... Blanton's.... Crossbows... Cameras... Etc....

I was the Project Mgr. for a Tier 1 supplier back in the day and spent a lot of time in one of their assembly plants down south........nope, wouldn't spend my hard earned $0.01 on one, unless it was for a 4cyl fair demo or something😆

I had one as a rental unit a couple of years back. Seemed to get the job done just fine. Just felt "cheap" on the inside. Like I was going to break something. I drove it around for about a month without issue. It didnt take much to overload the truck. So I'm not sure what she is planning on hauling, might be worth thinking about. It won't do a bed full of firewood.

So here's my take on auto mfgrs - in the early 2000's I was in outside sales for my company and regularly visited auto plants in the area. Honda and Toyota were clean and seemingly well run, The workers in Honda were in uniforms, ALWAYS doing something, and all they talked about was quality and doing things right. The GM assembly plant in Moraine and the Delphi places in Dayton were shitholes - grease on the floor, people eating and drinking stuff and reading fucking newspapers on the line!?! Knowing about quality issues with Chevy and other GM products, seeing the plants turned me off for good.

I had a new Mazda Protege that had 270K+ on it when I sold it to a friend -I've had a 2007 Honda Accord (still have it in service as my beater) and my 2011 Toyota Tundra has 220K on it, my wife's Rav4 has 150K. I would get into either of our Toyotas and drive to FL or CA tomorrow, no worries, no questions asked, with no fear of breaking down. Because we do all schedule maintenance when it's supposed to happen, no skipping oil changes.

I believe the Japanese automakers put out great products. I vouch for Honda and Toyota and Mazda based on personal experience. I would assume that Nissan would be the same, I just have no experience nor do I even know anyone who owns a Nissan.

The Honda Ridgeline would be what I would suggest in this category. I just don't know what the cost difference is or the actual purpose/need here.
So back in 2011 before buying my Tundra, I went to the Cincinnati Auto Show and I looked at and sat in every manufacturers trucks to get a feel for them, doing my homework before going shopping. The Ridgeline was something I was really interested in, because of my feelings about Honda. It took about 15 seconds in the driver seat to know that that was not the truck for me. Tacoma? No bueno for my ass. When I walked out, I knew it would either be a Tundra or F150.

Not to veer off course too far but. . .post 2020 Covid I think they are all garbage. Used to be work thru a temp service, pay your dues, and in a few years "maybe" you could get hired on full time at Honda. Now they just need a pulse. Not even drug testing. This is based off friends and family who work there and can't wait to retire. Took a u-turn after Covid. Not to bash on Honda as we love them. I'd guess all manufacturers have slid off course in the last five years.
