Just got off the phone with Russ while he had a running fish hooked.

According to him, his out of pocket cost was the $22.00, which is supposedly good for one gator within the state and also paid the additional $272.00 for those additional counties to get in the draw. He'll find out in another day or two if he gets in any of those. My cost as a helper/assistant will be $62.00, which basically is just that, helping in getting the gator either in the boat and/or operating the boat, so on and so forth.

I'll be flying down next week as a dry run, straight flight from Rickenbacker to Punta Gorda airport, just minutes from his place. I'm sure we'll work through all the details in what he hopes to accomplish regarding this whole alligator hunting endeavor/adventure of his.

Trust me, he's pumped in getting himself one this year and I'm all too happy to helping him out.

Awesome! Sounds like a great time. Just remember to never lean weight forward over the gunwale and always carry a fixed blade knife on your belt. The last place you want to end up is in the water with that thing. You'll be surprised how strong they actually are. I've wrapped a trotline that had one hung up on it around a paddle and put my feet on the front seat of a johnboat and had one pull the boat upstream in probably a 5mph current. They're strong but tire pretty quick.

Something else they may not cover. When you go to put a knife through the tip of their tail to put the tag through, no matter how dead they are they'll flip their tail and you can get cut bad by the knife. Stand onitss tail about a foot from the tip and poke the knife through on the tip of the tail end.

Looks like we'll be alligator huntin for sure early September.

This just posted video on the channel that I follow made me think of giving my youngest brother a call moments ago to get an update. He didn't answer, but I left him a voice mail message and sent an e-mail too. He's been out of touch lately because him and his wife went on vacation somewhere in South America. Should be back anytime soon. The original plan was, when he got back from his trip, he'd get ready for his alligator hunt, so, now I'm just waiting on him to let me know exactly when to book the trip and head down there to help him out.

Anyhow, thought some here might be interested in checking out this guy's latest video.

'It's a go!'

I got the text message that I've been waiting on first thing this morning, and then the follow-up call later this afternoon.

I'll be leaving next Monday, the 19th, returning Friday, the 23rd. I plan on documenting as much as possible all next week.

First gator hunts for both, here we go! Should be a blast for all involved, and trust me, I am completely looking forward to it!

Oh, and I almost forgot, I have a wedding that I'll be attending during 'opening day deer season' here. Unfortunately, I'll miss out hunting that day, but hope to be out in a tree somewhere the following day.
