I'm all in favor and even mentioned this in The comment section to the dnr poll post season........no taking off work kids out of school family members still in town for thanksgiving could hunt. Traditions change all the time. Weekday openers are messed up.
All valid points but all could be solved my running season Saturday through Friday without adding 2 extra days.
My personal opinion is I would only support this if the extra weekend of gun season later in December was eliminated.

I have grown to love it, as is. I like the Monday opener for no logical reason other than it’s been that way as long as I can remember. There is plenty of opportunity to get out and kill a deer.... I killed a pile of them in the mid 90’s when I worked 6 days a week.
I say keep it the way it is. I don't think we need a nine day straight gun season. This is coming from a hunter that looks forward to it every year.
Not taking kids out of school or using vacation? Hell, that's a big part of what makes it special. Gun week was the only time my parents took me out of school and the only week my dad took a full weeks vacation.

Doesn't matter to me. I only get two tags. 6-7-9-22 days. Won't matter. I'll be tagged out if I should choose to use both tags. Remove gun season. I might be angry.
I really don’t care either way, but I would love a weekend-to-weekend 9-day firearm season. It would give me more opportunity to travel to other parts of the state to hunt.
Exactly. It's a big money maker for the state. I like the idea of eliminating the second season then

Ohio has toyed with a Saturday gun opener for years. PA went with a Saturday opener this year. My guess odnr has looked how it worked over there and liked what they saw.
Let’s think about this from a money grab.
Offer an extended season, people vote yes. They manipulate it and make it a two week season and sell you another tag.
Knowing this will piss a bunch of people off. They shut you up by offering a antlered archery tag and gun tag. Win-win for them financially.
This would get me to buy two buck tags along with many of you. Many NR’s would also go for this. All around a good idea from a money grab view.

My guess is they’re just trying to figure out how to get more gun hunters on the landscape, since weekday gun season participation has been next to zero for the past several years.
