Lung spots

A family member of mine killed a buck with these lungs. I thought it might be hemorrhaging from the kill but he seems to think they’ve been there a long time and appears to be disease.

I think those spots appear on the ribcage but could be wrong.

The pics I've seen of it was on the ribs. Was just looking through Google images for lung spots similar to these.

Did that deer lay over night?

No - but he did just pull a muzzy and four inches of arrow shaft from his upper shoulder blade which the deer was limping horribly because of. Could barely walk.

They are called 'lung freckles'.

A few years back I had this and sent a picture to ODNR. I forgot the name they used, but basically it happens when the animal dies quickly. Send them the pic, they’ll respond and let us know.
