Marcellus Shale could revive the valley

A lot of stuff is happening thats for sure, the company I work for is engineering a lot of modifications to our pipelines to accommodate the Marcellus and Utica gas thats gonna load of the system. I feel fortunate to be in the position I am in.
 
Just got back from one of the hottest Marcellus areas, already in production. Holy shit. I've never seen a boom like that before.

I think it can be summed up in 2 points. A lady at Wendy's today came in and instantly just started bitching out loud about the wait and line. I said "Lady, this sure beats the hell out of people that are unemployed"...and the 15 roughnecks that I was standing in line with nodded and just smiled. The second would be the billboard for an auto repair place "We fix white trucks." I have never seen so many crew cab, lifted, brush-guard Powerstrokes and Duramax's in my life.

I hope one of da boys ran her Prius ass over...


PS - Joe you need to move up there and work, do something...it's all your people - Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi, Bama...it's easier to find one of those license plates than a PA one. Buncha freaking SEC fans
 
So I have an 18y/o nephew with no direct at the moment. What should I recommend for him to get started in the business?

The regulations they are pushing on king coal right now is astronomical. And it's all arbitrary BS not backed by science but rather the president's push for "green energy" as in solar and wind. . At the end of the day it doesn't matter.. If the EPA says let it be so, then it is, no congressional vote, no nothing.

Obama USDA delays shale drilling in Ohio holding up to 200k jobs

President Obama's United States Department of Agriculture has delayed shale gas drilling in Ohio for up to six months by cancelling a mineral lease auction for Wayne National Forest (WNF). The move was taken in deference to environmentalists, on the pretext of studying the effects of hydraulic fracturing.
“Conditions have changed since the 2006 Forest Plan was developed," announced WNF Supervisor Anne Carey on Tuesday. "The technology used in the Utica & Marcellus Shale formations need to be studied to see if potential effects to the surface are significantly different than those identified in the Forest Plan." The study will take up to six months to complete. The WNF study reportedly "will focus solely on how it could affect forest land," the significance of hydraulic fracturing to united proponents of the delay, "and not how it could affect groundwater."
Speaking of the WNF gas drilling, one environmentalist group spokesman suggested that moving forward with drilling "could turn the Ohio Valley into Ozone Alley," even though Wayne National Forest already has nearly 1300 oil and gas wells in operation.

Send him over here Beentown to the Range Office and fill out a App. Tell him to ask to speak to someone while he there. We have Texas, PA, and Ohio boys here on my Rig.

He should also look at Patterson for employment. He could start out at the bottom of the rough-neck ladder but if he is in reasonable shape, he will make good money w/ benefits and insurance.

My bad, I meant Patterson as well. He will make around 90K and that is working 6 months a year. They work 2 weeks of 12 hour days and then are off two weeks.
 
Sheeeeettt. 90K a year I will do it with good benefits! He would kill himself with that kind of cash being young/dumb. Lol
 
Trust me been.. Those young roughnecks earn every penny of it. Tricking pipe for a day as fast as they move would kill us old fuggers.
 
Those boys work a 12 hour day in the sun, rain, and snow... whatever.
They earn the money but I don't know where the starting rate is.
Working in PA,OH and WV is rough but the big money and extreme high risk is the off shore rigs.
