I mainly pay attention to plant limits, airflow, and steady light cycles, then tweak things based on what each plant tells me. Sharing progress pics really helps everyone compare notes.
Umm... It's a weed. How much help does it really need? In college there was a restaurant we would frequent that had a plant growing out of a decorative planter behind it. The chefs would dump beer on it when their breaks were over. Damn thing grew like.... a weed. It sprouted from a joint they discarded there and forgot about.
Okay, but so was their closest cultivated cosin, hops. Another species humans desire. Its an herbaceous weed, like hops so why not figure out what makes them grow and produce the essences we desire best?
I guess its just a question of desire. I don't have much (any) when it comes to weed. Bourbon, however, that's a different story.
Maybe its my background, but your best bet for this is probably going to be via genetics and many many many crosses. Figure out which cultivars have the phenotype you want and break out the punnet squares. Crossbreed, assay, save off the best. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Another option, I suppose, is GMO weed. I expect that is going to be something we see in the next 5 years if not sooner. Heck...maybe it already exists.
