Maumee River Boater Questions

I've always waded the Maumee and had to deal with the cold water, fast currents and the never ending stumbling river bottom. I've done all this while watching guys fishing from boats and wondering what difficulties they incur (if any) while out there in the middle of the river.

Are there a specific type of anchor needed for the river current?
Is the anchor weight specific to the boat weight?
Is the success rate any different from a boat vs. wading?

If there's anything else that I'm missing, feel free to add to the list of what to expect while fishing the Maumee from a boat. :)

Yep...kinda figured that one. Especially after hearing some choice words from the boaters, while in my chest waders. :ROFLMAO: Hilarious string of profanities, immediately after hearing that "thud" of the prop hitting something and then watching them drift helplessly with the current.:sneaky:

I saw a handful of those surface drive motors on the river and they seemed to have everything under control. Noisy critters and spraying water all over the place, but no prop issues.

Had some great times boat fishing the river but not Perrysburg Maumee area more up river between Waterville and Grand Rapids. I’ve had my fill with the walleye run lol. Don’t want to be down there in a boat or in waders. Good luck if you make it out!
