Michigan Pt. 1

You’re the only one I know that can dive into a barrel of titties and come out with a penis in your mouth! 😂

So, I hadn’t heard nor heard anything before first light. Around 7:30 Levi texted me that he shot a doe and felt his shot was good and heard the diaphragm pop. He was surrounded by deer almost all morning, but didn’t have any other shot opportunities. Around 8 I had a doe come busting ass through at 75 yards with 4 bucks in tow. All running full bore with 0 chance of pulling them my way, still fun to watch. 15 minutes later a decent 8 crossed down wind of me at 100 yards but didn’t seem to mind my stinky unshowered ass. I gave him a few grunts and he disappeared over the hill. At 8:30 I heard a grunt and crunching straight up wind of me. First I saw a mature doe around 50 yards making a beeline for me, and presumably a buck behind her. She was milling on acorns but moving at a steady pace. I spotted the buck, and through the immature maples he appeared to be a basket rack 8, which I would’ve shot. He was 30 yards behind the doe, and the doe was at 25 yards and angling towards me and heading to get down wind of me in less than 15 yards. I made the decision to not look a gift horse in the mouth and take the doe. Unfortunately she made it out of frame on my big camera, and I only got video of her ass when she got shot, but I don’t really give a shit lol. I drew when she went behind an oak and hit her with a meh and settled my pin. Pinched through her at 18 yards and heard what might’ve been the loudest pop ever. She ran straight north with the buck looping around to follow her. She got wobbly at the hilltop and dumped over in less than 75 yards. I then watched the buck poke and prod her trying to get some poon, but obviously she was dead lol. I wished I would’ve capitalized on the distraction and climbed down to try and sneak up on him. I tried grunting him in but he didn’t care and after 20 minutes wandered off. I nocked another arrow and sat till 9:30 with no other deer sighted. I packed up and climbed down, and slowly approached my doe thinking the buck might’ve still been near but he was long gone. I went back to the truck to ditch my pack and layers, and went back in to get her gutted. Levi was doing the same thing, he had a 250 yard flat drag while I had a 1/2 mile uphill drag. I took my bow just in case, which didn’t do anything for me. Made quick work, and got to dragging. Mind you, it’s 10am now and our Airbnb check out is 11. Thankfully the host was 10/10 and said to take our time. We got our pair of does loaded and on the road to the cabin by 10:50. Took some quick pictures, got packed and hit the road by noon. Should be home around 5ish. Gonna get my doe as processed as possible tonight since I have class in the am. Definitely some lows on this trip, but I learned a lot- as always- and am looking forward to coming up next week with my dad, Levi and Eli with rifles. I’ve gathered a lot of intel, and after one night of my cell cam soaking and my encounters I’m looking forward to The potential quality of bucks up there. Thanks for following my ramblings and bitching for the last week. Michigan Pt. 2 will be coming soon…. I didn’t proofread any of this so if it makes 0 sense that’s why.
