Michigan Pt. 2 - The High Powered Rifle Sequel

Not much to update on my end. I didn't see a single deer this am, which was very surprising. Eli also saw 0 deer. Levi saw over a dozen and shot a doe. I still hunted my way back to the truck to meet up with Levi to help with his doe then grab lunch. We got Levi’s doe hung, ate lunch with my dad and are back in. Levi is in the same spot as this morning, I’m hunting approx 200 yards from where I typically bowhunt. Levi told me to sit with him, but I didn’t wanna jip him out of any deer. Still pretty windy and very gray out. Most of the hunting pressure is already gone. Gonna be low 30s tonight and a very light breeze in the morning. Not sure where I’ll end up yet, but I’ll be out here somewhere.

Saw a spike that almost got shot, but wasn’t sure if it would’ve been considered an antlerless or not and didnt wanna gamble it lol. Eli didn’t see anything and Levi saw a doe and a spike. My dad called me around 5 and told me he had a buck down. He gave me a quick story and told me to meet him at a buddys near where he was hunting a half hour or so south of where we were. The 3 of us met at camp and changed out of our hunting shit and went to meet my dad. I told Eli and Levi that my dad shot a doe, and they believed it until the end. We drove a few miles down the two track, then hopped into the bed of my dad’s truck and went another half mile down the way. We walked back to the stand, and got to the scene of the crime. Shot was a little forward, but not a problem for a 7mm. We got a few pics, and got it loaded into the sled and I drug it out to his truck. I gloved up and gutted it for him. I pulled the heart and liver for some of his buddies at another camp and bailed. He dropped in at a couple different camps while the 3 of us got back to camp. Randog wasn’t too far behind and we got our 3rd deer hung for camp. Fires still rollin now, but heading to sleep now. Up and at em again in the am.

Congratulations on the kills! I would love the buck poles and just atmosphere of being up with the people. All the camps! It used to be that way around here. Guys would take the whole week off. Not anymore.
