I was planning to hunt all day today. The wind was brutal and around noon, my headache had reached a point that I just couldn't tolerate it any longer. I did a lot of praying while in stand this morning and as the day progressed I asked the good lord to give me a sign that I should leave today. My headache was my sign to get down. I was really frustrated because I really wanted to spend the entire day on stand. I was on the turnpike going eastbound, about 3/4 of the way home, when I see a car hit the median coming westbound. What I saw next was just surreal. These are the types of crashes you only see happen on TV. If I or the truck in front of me were tens seconds ahead, we would have been part of the crash. The car flipped 5 or six times and then flipped three or four times end over end into the ditch and over onto the fence. I ran down with two others expecting to see massive carnage. I was nearing the drivers side door, when another lady started helping someone out of the trunk. I ran over and helped get this young lady out of the car. As we were pulling her out she asked us "Do you believe in God". I carried her away from the car and laid her down. She looked right at me ans asked, "If you believe in God, you will make something up". I wasn't sure what to make of that and at that time the female trooper can over and the girl began to get up and walk away claiming she was fine. Apparently this was a high speed chase gone bad. The girl was from New Jersey heading to or from Toronto. I can't believe anybody could walk away from the crash I witnessed. I was a little messed up after this experience, but after a nap, I seem to be better. Gonna hit the woods again to continue my lost evening hunt.
