Those demo's would be priceless if anyone was getting into it. Not many old timers out there to follow along and learn on the fly like there used to be.

Which is pretty easy to avoid. Mostly by not putting them under fences. Eliminates 99.99998% chance of catching deer
I agree… a lot are avoidable. There are also a lot of cases where deer simply do things that they aren’t supposed to do, and get caught. Run snares long enough and it happens.
The old wives tale of coyotes duck a branch and deer jump over...... This needs to be avoided because deer duck branches often. Once I started just open trails and small holes underneath a fence I've never snared a deer.

It's all balance. While everyone should try to avoid accidentally snaring a deer, it happens. The way I see it, a breeding pair of coyotes supposedly kills 7 fawns a season. If I accidentally snare a deer I still saved 6. I used the deer as bait and would snare even more coyotes from around the carcass.
