At 95% of colleges, football funds all the other sports, especially women's sports. Not being mean, but they just dont generate money. For the most part, they are funding all the other mens sports too
Agree NCAA D1 football generates the major income for all major colleges. What I find crazy is what the Bowl games pay back to the League and not just the school.
Sorta on the same lines as the Soccer Women wanting equal pay as the men are getting and they dont fill the stadium the same.

So in the long run, this is going to hurt the other sports at the benefit of the football players. Is that what I'm seeing? All the Al Bundys are gonna get "what they deserve". As if the free ride to college and a chance at life changing money isn't enough. They are getting a chance at a career in sports.

I do agree that they should be able to sell a uniform or thing of the like for their own personal gain. But they would have to make it their own personal property first, right? I'm guess the school owns the jerseys.

Any thoughts on this hurting the quality of the players? It’s not uncommon to see the early draft picks who get big up front money fizzle out. I’ve always enjoyed watching the underdogs put in the work and out perform the prima donnas. Possibly getting paid could kill the drive of some great college athletes?

I actually think it may help retain more of the borderline talent. If you're on the fence, but $ is the only factor for moving on, maybe this will help them stay one more year and round out their development.

I personally would like to see that. Having played at both the D1 and 2 level, I can’t help but think the money being in a lot of these guys pockets could lead to some poor decisions. I know our keggers at the football house would have been way more frequent for sure lol.
