Need some tracking advice

Any buzzards or crows hanging around in any of that woods? Something too keep in the back of your mind as well.... Part of the learning process is if you find it days later find the entrance and exit would too give you a better understanding as too want went wrong.....

Plus I'd get back out on stand just in case you can see if she'd make the rounds if she's still alive that is.....

That's tough man, but I think we've all been there a time or two. Just keep your head up and chalk it up as part of the learning process and move on. Get back out there and lay one down!

As said before, we've all done it... It sucks, plain and simple! Best thing to do is shake it off, go shoot your bow at the target, get that confidence and comfort back and then get out there and put a hole through another one!

S&G if you hunt long enough must of us have the same sad story. My suggestion is, and this is no reflection on your hunting ability, is take the Bow hunter Education Course. It's free. I have taken it and given it many times. I always seem to come away with lessons learned from others experience. Actually every one should set in on at least on session. Good luck with your deer. Been there and done that!

I'll be sitting in with my boys when their apprentice license runs out. This is the last year for my oldest. It'll be a good refresher.

I probably won't be utilizing it anytime soon, I need some reflection first. I'm upset with myself and I need to regroup and learn from my mistake

I'm with ya man. It is tough to lose one and it takes some time to get back on the horse. You'll be fine. Best of luck getting back out there! It happens to all of us sooner or later!!!

It happens and it's part of nature. The animal will never go to waste, there are too many other critters out there that will benefit from that deer. Last year when my (then) 12 year old daughter lost her deer she was devastated. I really worried that she would not see that she was simply part of a different cycle of life than we had planned. To us, her deer was not meant to be found. We certainly used it as a learning experience as the shot was a quartering towards shot with the front leg back some. That was more my fault than hers for not noticing since I was supposed to be her mentor. Soon she was back out there hunting again and by the end of December we finally got the stars to align again and she put a perfect shot on a real nice doe!

Well I'm back down at college for the week but my neighbor text me this picture yesterday.

I guess from the text the deer made it across a strip of standing corn to the back edge of my neighbors property. It appears what Chuck said couldn't be more true.

Circle of life. Sorry to see it happened to you though. At least you know you put a good shot on the deer. Unknown can bugger your confidence. Sure doesn't look like she went to waste.
