I realized I forgot to include the 6 year old pics of Holyfield (post #29 of this thread).
I could have bow shot him this year, but the issue was that I had just ran an arrow through a different one about 5 minutes before he came through with a doe.
I did get some great video of him though, as he presented about every shot one could ever wish for at 20 yards...

Scott here is one that I think sort of relates to the size our your deer when he was 2 and 3. He may have actually been smaller than yours.
We called this one 'Plain Jane'. Named him that when he was 3 because he was just a plain jane 8 point.

2010 (2 yr old)

2011 (3)

2013 (5 yr old and he sprouted a G4)

He ended up taping 153 and was probably never gonna turn into a super-giant. But I'll take a 150 inch 5 year old any day!

Good thread, I've seen alot of deer that don't really seem to make a big "jump" but then you get the occasional one who just blows up... I've got some good examples of both sides of it, most are on my computer and would take some time. These are off of phone and crazy jump, 2015 and then 2016 and then him with his 2015 sheds.

Wholly shit that is one hell of a buck, that antler growth is unreal from one year to the next, that's what makes the animals so impressive, and that my friends is what drives us to pursue these great whitetail, Congrats on that buck, certainly a damn beauty.

So what happened to all the pics folks said they were going to post???

Anyone care to state if they think this one could use another year, or should have been culled as a 2 year old?
Do you think he turned out just average, or into a giant?

Is he 2 in the pics? I would guess 3, but I admit that I am no expert. In PA they seldom live past 2 so I don't have a ton of experience. He just looks too stocky for a 2 year old.

Hard to say how big a deer will be. Some make big leaps and some stay about the same.

This 6 has awlays been a 6. He's at least 5 years old he's one of those ones that will never have anything more. And he's a few more that need one more year

Dang nice 2 year old Larry! If I were to guess it say he would turn into a dandy if given a few more years. I’ve read articles that the doe has more to do with the bucks potential than the buck that bred her. I wanna say it was a Dr James Kroll article in NAW.
