New Guy Here!

Hey! New to hunting and looking for some advice and direction. Im in the toledo area and have been looking for public land to bow hunt. Any suggestions? Additionally, I find the game check videos and literature to be little confusing. After the harvest of the deer, you can do the game check on the app, all that is clear. Then you get a confirmation number, good...no problem there. But then ot says that the confirmation must remain attached to the deer until it is processed. Is there a special physical tag you need to attach? If so where does that come from? Do you just write the confirmation on a post-it? Any clarification would be helpful. Thanks for tolerating the new guy!

In my backpack I have a ziplock bag with additional bags, a pencil, post-it sized pieces of paper and zip ties. I’ll write the confirmation number and tag info on the paper, place it in a ziplock, and zip tie the bag around the antler of a buck or leg of a doe. The bag protects the paper and using two zip ties keeps everything attached to your deer.

Welcome aboard! I have a small bag that has everything I need to gut/tag a deer. Knife, gut hook, butt out tool, zip ties, blank index cards, ink pen and pencil (Incase the pen freezes) and a couple small plastic fishing license holders. I’ll fill out the index card with the harvest info, then put it in the clear fishing license holder. Then attach to the deer with a zip tie. All of this fits easily into a small pouch that I keep in my backpack.
