Next deer season's pledge...

....is to start planning right now.

Just ordered another trail cam....making plans for a food plot.

Going to be a busy few months around here.

Build my early season deer cooler and get some deer on the ground earlier this upcoming year.

I'm with Brock. This season did me wonders in the mental aspect of my bowhunting pursuits. My pledge is to continue doing what I am doing, make sure my wife continues the streak* and to make every effort I can to close the book on Captain Jack and our 3 year history...

Honestly.... to shoot a P&Y deer. I broke the 100 inch mark after a lot of years, and a few mature deer that should have went 100, with a 110 in 2011. Followed it up with a 120 this year, that was for all intents and purposes an 8. Keep the luck comin!

I pledge to keeo on doing what im doing. Hope to acquire more properties to do it on.

I put in alot less seat time this year compared to years past. Instead i put in alot more time scouting/running cams, but made each sit count. I had the opportunity to keep tabs on some beautiful deer this year. If that continues i'll be happy camper.

Due to absolutely no time i never was able to go hard with the recurve. I hope next year im in the same position and can make it happen traditionally with more time.

X2.... Thanks Capt obvious....... :smiley_coolpeace:

HEHE... sorry, I just don't set lofty goals anymore...takes all the fun out of it for me. If I have half as much fun next season as I had this year, it will be a great season!

Here's a goal for next season; I hope to have an elevated "blind" or two built on the Fayette Co properties. I have permission to build 'em, and have decided I'm getting to the point where being comfortable and safe is taking the place of stealth. :) I want enough room to lay down for a nap when I feel the need. Is that too lofty a goal?

Enjoy myself as I did this year even tho I didn't get my 1st bow taken buck. i put in over 252 hrs this year and that's more than the last 12-15 yrs combined. There will be more hrs hunted this year. Hey I'm retired.
Bought a disk yesterday so I can put in the food plots I should have put in 21 yrs ago. How time flys.
Putting up about 5 ladder stands so I have more choices with the wind.
Try for another hunting property.
I better get started now.Times a wasting.
Frank

Duck hunt more and deer hunt less
Leave the camera at home and shoot good deer bc they make me happy, not have to worry about good footage
Get back to the basics and make hunting fun again, not a JOB!!!
I still love going to the woods and hunting, but sometimes i get sidetracked and stressed with the camera and always needing good footage.

Lol...I like the way you think! If I could take a nap I might be able to stay on stand longer!

I pledge to continue to hunt hard, I will still be picky on bucks but plan to take shots at does when given no matter the time of year (except 1st two weeks of nov.)

I just passed on a few to many deer this year, had many many many opportunities with a gun and a bow. Also I plan to not hunt as hard untill Mid to End Oct. Unless I have one patterned.

Two thumbs up to that one.

My pledge comes from a couple things learned this year. The first is to wait at least 3 weeks between checking trail cams no matter what. Just like most on here, I love checking them and I know I do it to much. Especially since the properties I hunt are almost all small tracts of land. I pledge to fight those urges when I have 20 minutes to spare and I want to take a 4 wheeler ride and check a cam or two. 3 weeks is going to be my self imposed limit.
The second is to hunt as little as possible until trick or treat is over with my daughters. This year I hunted just enough in the early season and the dreaded middle of October to keep me from going crazy. I conserved my time in the woods to Nov.1 and after. I tagged out on Nov.9 and in that stretch saw 20+ different bucks and 3 of those I was confident would score over 140". I shot the smallest of the three studs I saw in that nine day stretch. I really think by limiting my time until November made a big difference in mature buck sighting on my small tracts. The only way I plan to violate this pledge is if I am confident I have a shooter patterned early.
