I'm not sure how much you guys keep track of this so I thought I would post a thread explaining the banner. Years ago under the Obama Administration there was an FCC rule passed that basically stated internet service providers we're not allowed to restrict internet usage beyond reasonably capping speed and consumption.

The chairman of the FCC recently repealed this ruling allowing internet service providers to basically do as they wish. The same companies that commonly provide cable services provide internet services and they have lost a lot of cable subscribers to online streaming such as Amazon, Netflix, Hulu etc. The reversal of this ruling will now allow these internet companies to chop the internet access up into packages like they did with cable. For example if you want access to YouTube Hulu Netflix or Amazon then you will need to add a streaming package to your internet plan, if you want access to ESPN's website or other sports websites you'll need to add the Sports Package. But the implications also go far deeper than that, they will also attempt to extort websites saying if you pay us XYZ then our internet customers can access your site at whatever package speed you purchase. If you don't pay us then we're going to slow all of our customers down on your site. Or worse yet allow one website to pay more than another making them the preferred website of the internet provider and all others are either throttled or blocked.

If allowed to continue there could come a time where the only way you'll be able to read TOO is if you also subscribe to the social media package which the internet service providers make TOO pay to be a part of.

We must keep the internet free and open without allowing our internet providers to restrict our access for ransom. Please click the banner and send a message to your congressmen.

Everyone is cutting the cord and cable providers are losing their asses. They want to find a new way to make up that lost revenue and the best way is to carve everything up in to packages.

Here's the future of the internet if we don't make some noise. The American people are overwhelmingly against it yet the FCC repealed the protections anyway.
