Shout out to @at1010 Albert and the crew at Vitalize. Due to a hectic schedule and major constraints on my time this fall I had to get the CL in when time allowed. I sprayed gly and sewed a week later on 8/2 via throw and mow method. Of course that was timed perfectly with the extreme dry spell/drought, just my luck. The heavy thatch layer created was enough to hold some moisture for germination. I was beyond worried that the lack of rain over next month to 6 weeks would surely be the end of it. Fast forward to now and the rain we finally did get has it really thriving. I’m really impressed with this mix’s drought tolerance and hardiness.

This is just a small kill plot that I plan on expanding little by little each year as time allows. I will keep it rotated in NB/CL seasonally. The deer are already using it with standing corn and plenty of native browse still readily available.

Pumpkin patch was planted 9/21, coming in nicely. Way later than I wanted to plant but pumpkins needed as much time as possible

Kill plot needs more sun. Only 1/4 of the broadcasted area receives enough to grow. That said, it grew great down here with no soil prep. Ill be dropping the large silver maple and a small pin oak this winter to open up for next season's planting.

The lower portion of the pasture was a 99% bust. The only places barasicas took hold was where there was bunched up grass from mowing. The clover and other smaller plants are sporadic throughout. The deer dont seem to mind, still bedding and munching on it. No rain and full sun, it didnt stand a chance. Ill look at plowing this up next spring to prep for fall planting.

Looks good. On the bust spot. Check it in spring and see if you don’t notice grains and annual clovers producing. I’ve seen that happen often.
