Yesterday I was honored by the State of Ohio Forestry Department to host a field day at the farm. This event was to show landowners the amount of work I have done over the past 10 years - primarily in the timber-
and to get them excited about their farms!

We covered wildlife habitat, cull tree removal, invasive species removal, mid story removal, clear cuts, equip programs and of course a little on soils!!

We had NRCS, ODNR, Ohio Forestry, Soil and Water and more state agencies and about 50 guests at the event.

Absolutely an honor and so happy dad came to enjoy the day with me as well! Thanks to all my friends and family who’ve supported my passion and helped in various ways over the years.

As soon as I think I have good biomass on my farm - a customer shows me up!

My friend and customer - Will Stevens just sent me his Nitroboost from down in the great state of Lousiana!

Talk about biomass! This is absolutely helping the soil, feeding wildlife and will be phenomenal for planting is Carbon Load into.

Will saw 14 deer in this field last night and has applied 0 fertilizer to this field this planting season.

Thanks for sharing with us, sir! We appreciate you!!

It’s been so dry and we are finally catching some rain to finish off our NitroBoost Planting. I cannot wait to drill or broadcast into this with our Carbon Load. I am letting this go about 2 more weeks - then it’s GO TIME.

The above and below ground biomass is critical to our 1-2 system and critical to feeding our soils and wildlife.

Over the years I’ve had folks ask about sandy soil.

During this time I have done numerous soil tests and even total nutrient digest tests to show that in low cec soils we can be successful! It really comes down to moisture at planting and retention and fertility management- just like how it’s handled in Agriculture.

To further prove this point - I bought 100% pure play sand from the local hardware store. I’d expect this OM is ZERO and the CEC is as low as pure sand can rank.

I tossed in a handle full of Vitalize Seed Carbon Load and patted it down, and knew rain was coming. That was 4.5 days ago.

Every soil and type of soil has pros/cons - it’s how we handle the fertility and planting methodologies to best suit that soil type that makes the difference.

As time permits - I plan to continue to test various methods and even tissues to show what is achievable.

Hope someone finds this useful.
