Not A Bad Start

Saturday evening sat one of my food plots that has a mix of clover/radish/hybrid brassica in a ground blind and had 2 does and 2 little ones walk about 12 yards in front of the blind to get to the food! Pretty awesome to have them that close on the ground the first day! I know the wife was pumped. I was also pretty impressed how well the blind worked as it was my first time using one. They looked right at us inside 20 yards and had no clue.

Evening sit Sunday was in my other, bigger plot where I didn't have high hopes for in the summer but after seeing tons of browse and turds all over the field I figured it was worth a shot. Sat in some brush with the wind in our face and lo and behold, this little fella and a doe walk out around 6 at about 10 yards. These pics were taken with a phone so you can imagine how close they were.

Fortunately we were well covered and they walked by without a care. Had about 7 more does/fawns come out as the night went on and I figured it was only a matter of time before a big boy walked out...Fuggin doe came up behind us around 7:20 and started blowing like a porn star, which probably wrecked any chance of the big boy stepping out. Overall great start to the season! Wasn't planning on it, but I might be putting an arrow through a doe next weekend since apparently we need to.
