Several years ago, my former employer took on a contract to manufacture an experimental 'compound' for HIV prevention in Africa, for the Gates Foundation. After watching an operator nearly slip on a small spill of the material on the floor, I asked someone 'what is that stuff?"... Turned out it was a kind of personal lubricant.
