Actually not a bad idea!!

 
Sad times when you have to cable lock the ladder sections together.
I do that and also use bolts with lock nuts instead of the clips that hold the sections together. They can still steal it but they are going to work for it.

We have bolted our ladder sections and most of the climbing sticks together for years now. Partly because of theft but mostly because it eliminates noise when you hit them with your hands or feet when climbing. The bolts are what kept a brand new treestand from getting carted off the one year. The guy had it down and across the field stashed along the woodline when I found it. Figured he was coming back with wrenches to take it apart into sections. Was in the middle of the property basically and I didn't put a cable lock on it thinking it was good and safe.
