Oaks and acorns

Yep, forgot about the hickory trees being absolutely loaded this year. One group of trees near a stand had so many cuttings under it I couldn't believe it.

I looked the other day

The White Oaks have some acorns , but not great
The Burr Oaks are loaded
The Red Oaks are so so

Acorns seem small around here but several of them, need to get out and look in the woods at some of honey holes to see what is producing more, reds or whites.

Update, red oaks acorns seem small but a lot of them, no acorns on the white oaks around here tat I've checked. Tons of persimmons and crabapples.

Acorns are spotty around my area in the SW but where they are plentiful I have two cameras and no deer seem to have found them yet. It's kind of disheartening to say the least!

I have seen more untouched acorns on the ground this year than ever before. Sorta scratching my head here. Large or small doesn't seem to matter. Untouched.
