What are they calling for weather wise in your area on opening day?i try to hunt whenever i know a cold front is coming in. im gonna try to do mostly evening hunts til late october but if a good front comes in ill be out if i can, i know its a ways off yet but ive been checking the weather for opening weekend and if it stays what its showing someone will kill a giant.
Nice! Should be a little cooler up here then.lows in the lower 40s and highs in the mid 60s
Whats your strategies for hunting early to mid October cold fronts?
That's advice I'll use.I like hunting evenings along a standing corn field on a fence row.
Hunt evenings when the shitty weather is moving in. That's when I've seen the big boys on their feet in early October.
This.
My only mature buck encounters early in the year have been evenings when we've had nice front roll through during the day. If you see a nice temp drop in early October, it's a good night to be in the woods. I still avoid mornings like the plague, but the evenings take on a new feel when you get a front passing through during daylight hours. A storm that ends around 3-4PM and brings a substantial temp drop is a gift from the hunting Gods!
