Walbridge oh
I can think about a few dozen other things that our money could be used for. Now if they were going to rip the playground out and make it a wetlands or plant some trees I could see. This is my town and it needs fixed up but this is bullshit.

I should have removed the “smartass” undertone when I typed that. What I meant to say is, this grant is probably (most likely) not tied back to the Division of Wildlife. It’s probably from Division of Parks and Watercraft. The article definitely left out some critical information. Then again, most people (even reporters) aren’t aware of the various divisions under the umbrella of ODNR.

You guys do realize that ODNR is a huge entity with like 12 different divisions, right? One of them being, PARKS and Watercraft. This most likely is NOT your hunting or fishing dollars being spent.
I’m aware. I’m also aware a few years ago there was quite a stink when Dewine merged ODOW w Parks and watercraft. The reason being there was a belief funds generated by ODOW would be used fund Parks. Is that accurate? IDK, I don’t look at the budgets.
Personally, I don’t think any govt agency, Federal or State should be funding grant for a new park. Our little community got one last year for a park revitalization. 5 million, to be spent by 2026. Complete waste of money, and so far next to nothing has been done on the project. I hope nothing is, honestly, as it will soon be washed into Paint Creek Lake since that antiquated park lies squarely in the watershed flood plane. The entire area lies under water with every spring rain…. 5 million. It’s like we are not even operating in the red, so yeah, let’s build a new playground to be utilized by drug adicts just as the perfectly updated park that is not in the flood plain is used currently.

Ok glad I posted this because I’m learning a lot. Thanks for the reply’s! Still I bet if I went to the next council meeting and asked what exact branch it was coming from (money) I wouldn’t get a correct answer lol. Thanks again!

The merger was done under the fake libertarian Kasich. The.Ohio State Trappers association, Sportsman's Alliance, Ohio Conservation Federation and a few others spent a lot of time and money to make sure that the DoW didn't get folded In with with Parks.

Any branch other than the DoW, that's part of the ODNR, is all funded by the taxpayer. So it doesn't really matter which branch that the money comes from as it can be moved around within the department. Wildlife Council doesn't have anything to do with the ODNR outaide of Division of Wildlife so you could complain to them all your want about parks but they won't be able to do anything about it.

I remember being pissed off when that went off down.

That sounds to me like the folks in your little community responsible for managing those grant funds aren’t holding up their end of the deal. A fault of theirs, not the granting agency.

Personally… with two small children of my own… I put a lot of value in access to high quality public parks. And my kids have a lot more available to them here at home. Most kids aren’t that fortunate though.

Yes, parks get misused. But that’s a community problem, not a park problem.
