Maybe waterfowl numbers are doin great because hunting them over cornpiles has been illegal since the 40s or 50s I think . Ahh ,who am I kidding it obviously wouldn't matter . Maybe we can try and get the feds to legalize it .
It surely wouldn't make it easier.

Or because waterfowl hunter participation is 50% what it was back in the 70s. In ohio 1983 was the highest selling habitat stamp ever with 41,000 sold. With 40% of the habitat stamp proceeds required to go to wetland conservation groups I'm sure that helps also.

Id say that Ducks Unlimited efforts at restoring the wetlands here and the breeding grounds in Canada have a little something to do about numbers also!!!!!

No doubt. Growing up in MS I was always amazed at the effort DU went to establishing wetlands. And there are TONS of natural ones around already. The amount of levies and marshes they created for people was a sight to see.

Walbridge oh
They saved Metzgers marsh back in the 90's with a three mile dike wall. Ducks returning in the spring stop there by the thousands. Not hunting season but still cool to see them in those numbers. The other benefit from it was the AWESOME bass fishing to be had there now!!!!
