An ocean mapping company called OceanGate Expeditions is charging $250,000 per person to ride in their submarine, Magellan, that tours the wreckage of the Titanic. The crew and their 5 passengers are "missing" and have 70 to 96 hours of oxygen left.

What I don’t understand is that they seem to have no idea where this thing is…did it loose power and drifted miles, or is it hung up on the wreck? Is there no technology on this craft to ping when electricity is lost, or oxygen levels drop so a sub or ship can locate it via sonar?

In the video he stated if came apart most likely. The way if you dropped a porcelain object. Probably fractured into small pieces. Rendering it pretty much untraceable.

A makeshift submarine with Camper World parts controlled by a Playstation remote...this sounds like something someone on here would make!

I would trust a fart after eating only Taco Bell for a week before trusting my life in that submarine at 4,000 feet!

I think we're all smarter than that. 😅. I read the Titanic sits close to 13, 000 feet with about 5,000 psi.

No shit. Every expensive ROV I've seen on Nat Geo had a tether line. Nobody thought to tie this fucker to something. They said even if it surfaces they're still doomed if they don't find it because the hatch is bolted on from the outside. They straight up uga-dugad five people in a modified propane tank and let em sink. What could go wrong?

I imagine most people would call this a "tragedy" or something, but I'm gonna be the callous prick and say this is natural selection in action, not tragic. Everyone involved should be front runners for the Darwin Award. How stupid do you have to be to get in that thing and dive 2.5 miles deep in ice water to look at a sunken ship that has been photographed thousands of times?

Yeah. I'm finding it hard to have sympathy for anyone involved except maybe the 19yo son. At least the CEO is on board and gets the same medicine instead of transferring everything to the Caymans and disappearing.

They’re not really pioneers either…thrill seekers is a category I’d put them in. They knew the risks. Sad, but shouldn’t be a finger pointing fest but you know damn will be thick as flies on dookey.
