I'm not overly empathetic to begin with, but when you decide to endanger yourself for thrills/profit/likes/etc., and you die, I'm not going to be super sad. I'd expect the same reaction from someone if I died while willfully choosing to do something dangerous. I definitely feel bad for those left behind that are grieving, but it's hard for me to muster up any sadness for the participants.
