My buddy saw at least 5 does this morning and never had any grunting, chasing, or bucks older than 1.5 in his vicinity. I'm convinced I'll see no sign of a rut this year. I've been on 3 different properties and hunted my best stands, hunted the does, and hunted pinch points. Either I suck, or it was just a shit year around here.

Ditto here Jesse. I have yet to see a buck over 120". I keep waiting for something to change, but everyday that passes I look more forward to chasing ducks & geese around. At least I can have good company instead of sitting around by myself.

That has been my issue. I have seen one "shooter" and he was on a full blown slalom thru the woods hot on the tail of a doe. I wouldn't have had time to get a slug into him let alone an arrow. I just haven't had any shooters in bow range. Today was weird. Saw 4 does today. Each one running solo. No bucks in tow. Not fawns or yearlings either. Not sure what to make of this other than the bucks were already in lockdown. One of the does was doing the walk of shame though. Her white in the hind quarters were all stained. I'd say she was going home with no dignity left after realizing her "man" was already with another hot doe. haha

Buddy was at work in perrysburg and watched a big buck breed a doe at noon on friday. He said after that they layed in the field the rest of the day. Today i seen a buck crusing at 11:00 and yesterday i seen a nice eight pointer at nine on the move.

Saw a forkhorn and a yearling doe locked down in the middle of a cut corn field. They were there for 5 hours (from when the farmer saw them to when I saw them).

At least he has some manners. After I breed I'm out the door for a smoke:D

I'm still hoping for this "trickle rut" to trickle my way. That little forky following that young doe grunting last night was the first indication of a rut that I have seen. Even the rub ing and scraping has been minimal.

I think that this past week was a great week, if you could hunt with night vision googles all night. This full moon had them bedded during the day and moving and chasing at night. Wish I had more vacation to hunt next week. Looks I am done till Saturday.

For the past two weeks my father and I have been seeing mature bucks cruising fields, edges, and open areas between 11am-3pm. This is all while driving down the road. I seen some chasing in the woods the first week of november, since then just the midday cruising.

Driving home from work I had too make a stop at Home Depot and took the scenic route too see if any bucks were cruising as it was about 5:15 took a back country road that borders a swamp too the east as I was heading south and with in a three mile drive I saw 5 different bucks... None of them would of been shooters as I've passed on bigger ones this year ( for the first time in my life ) hahaha.... They were all motivated and moving at steady paces noses close too he ground.... Was thinking with he wind blowing and gusting too 25 mph I was a little surprised that they'd be moving in this lousy weather....

Hopefully some made it out and had some good sightings....

Although I keep hearing of some people struggling in my circle of friends just about everyone has tagged out with a good deer . . I think we're in the midst of lockdown with some quality deer getting caught between does . I saw a slammer this morning at 9 by himself in rhetoric middle of a cornfield a half mile from my house . Easily150 plus . Stick with it guys , I predict ya'll will see good things happening youth gun weekend thru thanksgiving week as the number of breeding does dries up .

I was out for 12 days went back to work last Wednesday when the lil bucks started cruising. This was by far the worse year I had. No sign and late rut activity. Hope next year I hit it a lil better. Where I hunt public land if you don't hit it right buck sightings are minimal.

I hunt the Lisbon area and Sat. on my way to my lease I saw 3 mature bucks on the side of the rd. cruising. In the morning I saw 4 bucks and one real slammer. All of them responded to my rattling and the biggest actually chased a small buck away. I was unable to take an ethical shot and watched him walk away in heavy brush. In the afternoon a doe walked by at 4:20 and 5 minutes later a big 11 pt was following her trail. The area was clear and even though at my maximum distance I chose to take the shot if he stopped broadside. He did, and I hit him high lung and exited mid chest on opposite side. He has 11 pts. with some great character and he went 50 yds after the shot. Shot with a 70 lb Elite Pure and using Solid broadheads. I was rather far from my truck so it took a few hours to get him out. But at least the bucks are starting to move in my hunting area as my buddy also connected on a big 10 pt. old and mature dressing out at about 230. He also was chasing a doe and he had to yell to get him to stop before shooting. I believe in this area this week will be best.

Between November 1 and November 15 I put in 53 hours on stand, not a huge amount of time, but I saw only 4 mature bucks (>130"). Two of those were the same buck on two different days. On 11/02 a dog chased one apast me. On 11/08 two mature bucks were chasing and competing for a doe that was ready. On 11/14 a buck came out at dark and ended up meeting up with a doe that he chased a little. During that time I heard 2-3 bucks grunt. Pretty poor results for the first two weeks of November.
