The possibility of hitting a deer with your vehicle is obviously real.

Has there ever been an independent 3rd party study on "the odds" of hitting a deer with a vehicle? isn't it obvious to everyone now why the insurance companies are the ones putting these numbers out there?

Because they are the ones who receive the claims and collect the information from those claims? :smiley_chinrub:

I said this last year, I would like to see the data by county, I have a feeling its suburban and city folks hitting deer in places that can not be hunted. The obvious solution is to decimate the deer population in Rural Ohio and leave the city deer alone that are causing all these accidents. -- I am probably completely wrong with my assumption/prediction and will look like an ass when someone presents actual data.

One step on the process would be to peal back the wood line frontage on properties where the tree line abuts up to the roadways... once that's done it'd be an easier process to see what's about to bolt out in front of you....
Have seen this being done in numerous areas around the Boardman area on state rout 224...

As soon as a read "State Farm" I know the information wasn't worth reading. From my past, twice I had deer hit my car, not car hitting deer. Both times I was stopped at a red light. The best one was three does and a nice buck. The does ran in front of my car between the few feet of the car in front of me. The does turned a little and the buck turned a little right into my front tire. There was close to 7 or 8 cars and I was the third. If I was smart I should have used the car as a ground blind and parked it in the woods and leave it running.

My wife hit a trash can last year and the insurance company tried to push her towards saying it was a deer. "Are you sure you didn't hit a deer?" Asked her three times...the agent also informed us that you no longer need a police report to make a claim when hitting a deer.

So that told me that they are pushing people towards that claim. We didn't fall for her crap and stuck with the truth, but how many people did fall for it?....

I would like to see data a few years prior and after the change of not needing a police report to make a claim.

I literally just smoked a button buck with my truck this morning about an hour ago, no new damage to my already fugged up truck
