Oil...

I've seen multiple pipeline projects from conception to construction to Reclamation to final completion.. it's ugly during the process but once it's done there is no reason it would be "a pain in the butt for generations" ,,,,,, maybe you can explain why it is or would be

Many reasons. I'll never be able to build on it. What about drain tile and water lines, I have one drain tile that's 12' deep and a couple thousand feet of water lines 4" deep. What about things in the future that we have even thought of yet? What if I want to plant hops or grapes or other trellised crops? And you can come on my place to maintain it, put in additional lines and destroy crops and trees in the process. One field I rent has a leaking gas line in it, you can walk across the field and hear the gas hissing and smell it. 2 years ago I had the field already to plant and they came in and dug a hole in the field and back filled, leaving a big hump. Personally I feel a pipeline should pay me yearly while its there.

Nearly all complaints about pipelines come down to one thing: the contract. Sign a good one and you win. Inherit or sign a bad one and well, sorry about your luck. I've signed some downright landowner friendly contracts with folks and so far, there's no buyers remorse on either side.

Sorry, I guess. I didn't say I was against using plastic or gasoline. What I said was I don't feel bad for the big oil companies. Hurts a few and benefits the rest of us. Sorry if you are one of the very few effected by it directly but if you get in a new line of work, at least it'll be a little cheaper to drive to the new job. You'll be glad when you fill up too whether you admit it or not.

Westwinds on geiser road has a pipe line running through it north to south. It's the same line that runs along the new fallen Timbers park also in maumee. It might be a natural gas line. Can't remember that part.

Here's our minimum guidelines on pipelines ....
General farming practices allowed . Field tile can cross above or below but if you go over is ya sign a release to release us from liability if we'd have to dig thru. I've never seen us not fix tile tho. No parallel runs within 15 ft of pipe .
If construction equipment needs to cross we need to know so we can measure depths and determine of it can safely be crossed with whatever equipment needs to be used . If there's a concern mats may need to be installed .
No new buildings inside of ROW . Don't plant trees within ROW .
If ya gotta dig inside of the ROW a company representative needs to be on site .

That's some general info anyways .

Pretty standard for most transmission companies and from my experience, all are easy to deal with IF you keep them in the loop from the start.

Exactly,, Just tell us what your concerns are and we'll address them. None of us are out there to screw anyone over. We don't get paid a percentage of what we secure, we just get to keep our jobs.. I'd say 40% of my job is listening to your concerns and 60% is getting management to do the right thing

Can you send me a favorable landowner contract to review? We are still dealing with Williams on the Harrison Hub line.

On a side note. One upside is you can get an all inclusive 4 star boutique hotel on Isla Margarita for $150 a night. It's a small Caribbean island about 40 miles off the coast of Venezula. World class reef diving and snorkeling. With their recent economic issues you could live it up like a balla. Flights will run you about 800 out of Columbus.

So round trip from Columbus to Isla Margarita for two that includes all inclusive accommodations at a 4 star hotel for 7 nights will run about 2,900.

Really the only thing left to pay for is cabs, incidentals, boat charters for snorkeling etc. Should be cheap considering their massive hyperinflation. When Jessica and I went to Roatan (similar island off the coast of Honduras) last may a 5 hour private snorkel boat charter was $35 each and it included lunch.

Isla Margarita isn't too fabulous. I went there in 2007, stayed at a resort hotel and had a private tour guide for the week, referred to me by a friend who has been there a dozen times. was an interesting trip, but you could not pay me to go back. rum punch is dangerous.

Did you just go to drink and party or did you go diving and fishing. We went to Roatan last May and I can tell you if someone went there to party like cancun they would have a horrendous time. The bar was closed at 10 and everyone at the resort was in bed by 10:30. The sun rises early on the equator and the best diving is at sunrise. By early I mean like 4:45 am the suns above the horizon. Everything was on island time and if you didn't know how to relax Roatan would force you. The diving and snorkeling however was world class. From rays, turtles, reef fish, grouper, barracuda, octopus, parrot fish, huge lobsters and more starfish than you can count, the list goes on. It was like owning a million dollar saltwater aquarium and sticking your face in it. Shopping was local shops and handmade trinkets, sightseeing was mostly all nature from inland jungles to miles and miles of reefs offshore. Restaurants were locally owned and local food. Grilled whole red fish with a side of rice. You could find a hamburger but there was no guarantee it wasn't horse. Tasted ok. But it sure as hell wasn't usda beef. Lol.

But spend an hour floating face down 10 feet above a reef and there's no place I'd rather be.

30 hours of time to get there is my hurdle. I was seriously ready to book. Dang...

Check around on different flight days. Remember we're talking about a speck of dirt in the South East Caribbean.. Find out what your longest layover is and book your departure closer. Odds are you will have to fly in to Caracus then hop a local airline to the island. From my reading there's a couple dozen flights a week from Caracus to margarita. The trouble is our us based airlines may not be able to book with them or only one of them. A travel agent could help, they may book you in to Caracus as your final destination then on a flight to margarita. You can also look at the island of Bonaire. There's direct flights from the US. It's an island governed by Norway but they use US dollars. Bonaire is east of Aruba and west of isla margarita. Cost is comparable to the US. For instance dinner out with the wife will run you 30-35 bucks. And there is always roatan. Direct flights out of Miami, Houston and Atlanta. Keep in mind I think the flights are only on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday. Beautiful island, incredibly cheap, never once felt unsafe and everyone is as friendly as can be.

I was trying to fit it in on a quick 5 day over Memorial weekend.
