Opening day AM stand

My work week consists of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - off Mon thru Thurs. So I will probably be in stand Saturday and Sunday evening. Hoping to put some meat in the freezer, and get a shot at a couple bucks running around. Good luck everyone!!!

I took two swiveling padded desk chairs down and put them in this blind tonight along with a bunch of pine shavings for a base. Here is a view from the blind, of the blind, the big portion of the bottom I can watch through the window to my 3 o'clock, and a view of where the creek chokes down about 30 yards east of the blind. (You are facing due south.) My food plot is just on the other side of the creek through that choke point. It's the narrowest spot in a 600 yard long bottom. The food plot runs north and you can look out the 9 o'clock window through a small hole in the brush and watch the back end of the plot. This is my bad weather, low impact, gun hunting, observation blind. It serves many purposes, but it'll also make a deadly bow set up under the right conditions.

You work at Ariel or something?

Ill be hunting out of a big black recliner at work keeping tabs on the forums to see who all kills! Sunday is a different story... I dont know if ill hunt the morning bc of what time I get off duty and its hard to not blow deer out so more than likely it will be Sunday evening. Just got pics of a piebald doe im after!!!!

Same here and for Sunday as well. I'm off Monday so if the wind/weather cooperate, I will be hitting the stand.

Well, I was headed up to the ridge in the morning when we were supposed to have a N wind. Now it says S in the morning, so that would rule out Hippie Ridge. It's out of the NW at my place right now, so we'll check it in the morning. If it's out of the N or NW, I'm off to Hippie Ridge. If it is out of the S, I'll hunt the N side of the creek bottom from my decoy/observation stand and see if I can't glass him coming in to bed in the AM. Either way, I'll be happy to be out...

I'll prolly stay out of my stands and position myself on the downwind side of the beanfield near my stands and basically observe as to where they enter the field and what time. I saw a huge 160+ in this field a few weeks ago at 230pm while enroute to swap cards so hopefully he comes back and within bowrange! Goodluck everybody!

considering opening day will actually be tomorrow for me I have made my decision based on the southeast wind we are axpecting. I will be in my hang on stand just outside a doe bedding area. I have been getting picture in this site pretty regularly any where between 6:30 A.M. (when the sun was coming up earlier) and 9:30 A.M. This past week they have been coming through between 9:00 A.M. and noon.

Not a lot of deer in this area, but as I was setting up the stand I knew I needed a southeast wind to hunt it, and that seems to be what I am getting.
