I agree with your decision not to shoot that bedded buck. I had the same episode happen to me last year when a buck bedded with a hot doe only 30 yards behind me at 10 am. I was stuck in my treestand until 12:30. He offered a small shot opportunity while bedded but not when he stood up and departed just after noon following every move of that doe. I never did see that deer again last year. I sized him at 143" after looking him over for 2+ hours. Perhaps he's still around this year. I think you made the correct move.
