Other light hang-on stands

Yeah man, I had a pro and had to sell it because it was way too tiny.

I was thinking the same thing, but not about anyone in particular. Just thinking of anyone of size, 20+ feet up, trying to draw 70lbs on a cold November morning...knees a shakin'....breathin' heavy, standing on that tiny platform.:smiley_crazy:
 
I like the Rivers edge stands as well. Comfy but bigger. The Litefoot is a bigger platform, but not nearly as heavy as some of their other stands. API does have some nice light stands as well. I like them too. Lots of good choices out there. Just need to figure out what the right fit is.

My Pro Series Alpha is to new to me,but it looks like the seat an platform level.. .With the exception of a few things it doesn't appear to much different then a normal Alpha or Alpha II .The seat pad does look pretty unforgiving:smiley_depressive: Especially on a long sit .But I can put a muddy or gorilla cushion on it if needed,or cough up 60$ for the lone wolf Gel seat pad.:smiley_chinrub:. Only downside to that is the sticks wont lock in,like they are designed to do:tantrum:
 
Yep Alphas level, factory seat is a bit uncomfortable for a bigger ass, but you can get a piece that fits in between the seat and the tree that makes a world of difference, and lets you hang on crooked trees as well.

Cant remember what that bracket is called. Plus the sticks mount to the stand without any modification.

I wouldnt sway away from a stand over one pound, but definitely go sit your ass on a couple seats and see what you like the best. A hang and hunt is most likely a rut move that is going to put you in the tree for most of the day, so comfort is crucial.

Im dieing to sit in a millenium just for the comfort factor.
 
Drake- You have my number. Probably the most local guy to you for a "try before you buy". You would be more than welcome to try mine out.
 
I will say this about cheap treestands...

I've owned about 25 cheap treestands over the years and still have about 15 of them. Some I regret buying, others I got my monies worth from. At the end of the day, I wish that I had saved some of that "throw away" money and went with better stands/sticks. Over the past decade, I have spent a good bit of money on items that proved to not be worth their weight. Archery is truly one of the things where "you get what you pay for" rings true across the board. If I had it to do all over again, I'd save the $50 I spent on a cheap stand and wait until I could afford something that offered true value...

I'll tell you, what some prime will do to have a comfortable sit in a tree stand. Hey Jesse, does Tracie know about this?

I think I'm finding this out. I think I'm going to invest about $200 into a "cheap" stands this fall since it's all I can swing anyways and do a nice set next year. That's sage advice...but cheap is better than nothing (to an extent)

I emailed Chippawa and they were nice enough to send me their pricing list and a dvd. They look like great stands, but after looking at the price list, I probably won't even look at the dvd...stands are around $250 and sticks around 100.

Yep they definitely arent cheap. Not the best stand in that price range either.

I like the idea of their locking system and it seems like they've have great customer service. I don't have a problem buying from a small business, but you're right...not what I'm looking for right now.
 
I have a loggy bayou cheap seat hang on. 6 pounds, not too uncomfortable. For me its good for up to three hours in the stand. Very hard to find used. New they were $40 but they would sell for more now.
 
Since this one has been resurrected, do you have any updates for us Huck? Make a decision yet? If not, slide through Lima next weekend between Fri and Sun. I will have at least a dozen different hang on stands on display. There will be 2 Leverage stands, I think 6 different Big Dog stands, and I believe around 6 different Rivers Edge stands. Heck, for you I would even let you drink some of my beer and kick your feet up in the camper if you are tired or wanted to spend the night. Just no noodling or spooning with me. I heard about you. lmao

One other thing: No leaving clothes in my camper. bhahahahahahaha
