Here is a question for you all.

would you think it is worth giving up some of your plot to screen it form the road or just plant it with whatever you want and see what happens?

This plot I speak of is about 70 yards down hill from road. There is thick woods/trees between road and plot but you can still see it. I think if I plant a plot screen the deer might feel more comfortable?

A planted screen at the road will keep the outside lookers away. The tall grass screen would be OK as I believe it will replant itself every year and it's fast growing.
A permanent screen is better but takes longer to be of benefit. But then you could plant a permanent screen and plant a fast growing grass in front of it while the slower growing permanent screen is growing to do the cover job.

Thanks! I plan on growing lines where I can. I am just debating if that'll give enough huffed of if I should do some corn or plots scren to help the plot a bit more.

I have a guy farming some of my land in southern Ohio and some in crp quail habitat . Have a little ridge between to fields with some very old Apple tree there we added more Apple trees to the ridge . I will be 70 in April and I might not benefit from those Apple trees but my son and grandchildren will!

I was unaware of this "off season" you all speak of…lol. Deer hunting season turns into all those home projects the wife has made for me during hunting season. Which rolls into shed hunting/mushroom hunting…that leads to spring fishing! Back to that honey-do-list… THAT runs right into the heat of summer where I don't do much but drink beer and night fish. Next thing you know fall is fast approaching and you still haven't done anything on that list…So I hit the panic button and drink some more beer. After I learn once again that that didn't get anything done, I throw in the F-it card and use that until the season, "hunting season" starts. Repeat

That's good stuff Moosie! Every time those Apple trees pull in deer and one of your kin takes a deer. Your name and memory's will be brought up! Awesome way to help preserve the hunting heritage.

Thanks I told my son when we planted the trees that some day he and my grandson will be sitting under these trees and my son can tell his son , I remember when your grandpa and I planted these trees
