Got to pattern my gun this morning was excited to try out viper reflex sight , first shot Remington, magnum and I feel something hit my head , look at the gun and sight was missing , still pretty dark but found it , head didn’t crack it so continued shooting using front bead like normal believe 36 yards is my max range and Winchester long beards preformed the best

I've never had any luck getting a good pattern out of any duplex loads, but that might've had to do with my choke tube. Shotguns can be very fickle when it comes to patterning. 🙄 I don't hunt with any shotshell loads without patterning them first, to see how they perform at the distances I intend to hunt. 👍 Paper doesn't lie!!! 💯

Many years ago I used to reload my own steel shot shells, for goose hunting. I ran across a load combination that called for the use of an Activ hull, which was an all plastic 3". It used a Winchester AA shot cup and BB size shot. I finished up loading a box and took them with me for goose hunting the next morning. I was very impressed with the results as I dropped every goose with 1 shot each and out to 50ish yards. Despite my new found success, later that day I patterned them at 40 yards. For whatever reason, the pattern looked like the shape of a football. 🤔 They were the killing load for geese, but the all plastic Activ hull line went out of business and I had to find another brand of ammo. I ended up shooting some Kent Fast Steel, in BBBs and 3 1/2", which worked out just as good for geese. :)

My go to turkey shotgun is a Mossberg 500 Turkey Special with a 20" barrel and a 3" chamber. 💯 I killed several turkeys with it, using the fiber optic sights that are on it from the factory. However a few years back, I installed a Sightmark Ultra Sight and will never shoot a shotgun without one. There's nothing like knowing exactly where the center of the pattern is going to hit....right or left handed too. :sneaky:
