Hunted yesterday morning. Had 4 doe in between 200-225. Ground hunt. Bogpod had the 20 gauge super steady. The one doe is a monster. They got the pass. I'm not taking that shot.

Last night I was dumb. Set up in the ground again. Setup over open fields. What was i thinking? Those deer aren't venturing out into a wide open field in these winds.

Was up most of the night. Just finished salting. Going to sleep a few hours and make a plan for tonight.

Good luck tonight.

Open fields with a food source is what got me mine last night. The deer aren't coming out into the field until the last few minutes of shooting light is the downside.

The two previous evening hunts or just driving by that field in the evenings shows ample deer. The only different factor was the winds. Still windy today but they have to eat at some point.

Didn't hunt this morning. Helped a land owner get his deer located, dressed, and hanging. Hunted tonight. Had 3 little ones in bow range. Just not big enough to make a mess. Also had one buck come thru that tempted me but got the pass.

Hunted this morning. Saw 2 tiny does and a decent buck. Inside 100yds. Tiny does found 2 more tiny ones to mosey thru at 140yds.

Back at it. Was going to walk the ice covered creek in for quiet entry. I didn't trust the ice. Walked edges. Crossed creek. Saw 5 tails running away. One big body. Could not confirm antlers or not. Dang. There goes my hopes in this location. If you blow them out you're probably not seeing anymore. Anything is possible. I'll wait it out.

Busy this bonus weekend with family gatherings. Add in a little salt spreading, and trying to enjoy my daughters company while she was in town. . . .lucky to have gotten in a couple morning hunts.

Yesterday was solid. Had a pair of bucks behind me at 65yds 10 minutes before legal shooting light. Nice dusting of snow. I had to look thru the binoculars instead of the scope. They aren't monsters but I'd have liked to have seen the one in a little better light. Still probably not a shooter. Generally know a shooter even in low light. Later had 3 does come thru inside 30-40yds. Wasn't interested in the mess. Had something (or someone) bust 12-14 deer get bumped out of an off limits woods 500-600yds away. Watched them get to about 100-150yds and get skiddish again. Turned around and headed back into the off limits camp. No big boys in that group. I think that's it for yesterday.

Today was less impressive. New stand location. Hadn't hunted this stand all year. Shortly after sunrise I saw a solo doe move thru 70-90yds out. She was thru the trees and I had no shot even if I were planning on shooting. Eventually saw 4-6 does pop out of the off limits property again. Still 400-500yds away. Don't think they were out 5 minutes and they headed back in.
