Heard you missed a yote[emoji15]

Brian is fired. Why would he spread stuff like that? Guess I know who not to tell my bloopers to. Lol

Yes. Doe with triplets came thru. No clue I existed. Bow range. Short while later had young funky buck come thru in bow range. No clue I existed. Yote came in and got me stupid. I rushed shot. Shot right under it. Stupid stupid stupid. Maybe it's best to get those stupid blunders out of my system before a big boy comes in. So I nocked another arrow and had a second one come in on same trail behind first coyote. Didn't offer a shot. I tried to lipsqueak and make him stop. He kept trotting. Later the doe with triplets came back thru.

If I were analyzing I'd say the stop and go cadence of the first coyote threw me off. I was jacked up. It didn't really stop. I picked an opening. Tried to lipsqueak to stop it. It briefly did and I rushed a shot. All on me. I believe a deer walking and stopping at a more consistent speed would offer the opportunity at a shot in an opening better than the coyote did (and with a bigger target.) I need to analyze more. Shoot more. Shake it off. Move on. I screwed up and shot low.

I did see a nice run in my way out. Attaching pictures of it and the small buck I saw.

Hours hunted: 3
Deer seen: 5
In bow range: 5
Coyotes seen: 2
Shots taken at coyotes: 1
Dead coyotes: 0

Wouldn't let me edit so I'm updating for personal records. Trail camera card review shows no new bucks showing up in last week. Nothing chasing. Deer I bumped this morning were the doe with triplets who came back thru twice while on stand. Guess I didn't spook them too bad. That is a relief.

I’d fire him too Phil! He still has his other job to fall back on, you knew he was moonlighting didn’t you?!?! Yeah, sick bastard told me he’s a fluffer in the gay porn industry. It’s no wonder why he struggles with his follow through when he lets go of the string!😎

Lord I apologize.........(hope I didn’t derail your thread too bad) He tends to come back with a vengeance 😂

As any diligent hunter, I just finished ruling out any mechanical issues. Broadheads cleaned and resharpened. Shot my bow. Cold shot at 40yds 1-2" low. Second shot at 40 off sue to shooter error. Shot two at 20 and they were 10 ringers. Shot two from a tree stand at 30 and they were 8-10 ringers and nearly touching. Yep. I plum missed the coyote. Feeling fine with my shooting. Now to work on my mental game with live animal in front of me. Sometimes we simply need a dose of humble pie I guess.

I had a plan for camera card swap and observation sit tonight. My gut is telling me: right woods, wrong stand, take your climber and hunt 50yds south. Hope it is correct. Might just be gas.

Standing corner to my west and SW. Picked beans NW. Lots of acorns and hickory nuts in the woods surrounding me. Been seeing 6-10 deer in picked beans last couple weeks. Mostly does. Couple little bucks. One 2-3yr old about a week ago. Hoping the big boys are cruising this Eastern edge of corn along edge of woods. Saw some decent rubs coming in. SW winds are good if big boys are coming from south like I believe they "could" be. Where does have been is north and west of me so that should be fine too.

Did manage to lose bottom half of my climber for awhile. My monkey arms and legs were able to do a fishing trip and reel it back up here. Total dumby move on my part. Never try to adjust length of bottom section once settled into a tree. Just stupid and I knew better.

4th hunt of year. Settled in 415-430.

Here Me Buck. Come along now. It's time to go in my freezer.

Dang. My deer call isn't working. Beautiful, crisp morning. Other than the butthurt Buckeye fans on FB after that embarrassing loss to Purdue, it's about perfect. I'll get a short hunt this morning. Swap a card in way out. Head to watch daughter sing at church. Then decide what to do this evening. My views weather are splendid. With binoculars I can see tons of field edges now that crops are off. Outside the deer I nearly hit driving here I've seen nothing. Not even half mile away moving. Oh well.

Creek behind me immediately east and meandering funnels deer along this west edge. They just about cannot cross Creek in my downwind direction. If they are traveling this Western edge of woods they pretty muxh have to go by me. Thus far. . . They are NOT traveling the Western edge. Lol

Ended up seeing a small buck. 5 min later a group of 5 does headed north. I suspect the little buck bumped them out of wherever they were bedded. Something else bumped them to head back south later. I waited 10-15min to see if it was a buck or coyote that might be heading my way. Nope. Got down to head to church and watch the daughter sing. Figured I was in the clear. Nope. Got all the way up to where I was nearly in the lawn of the land owners and had another group of 5 does. Busted. Kind of sucks but also gives me some optimism. This is the most does I have seen there in a long time.

Hours hunted: 2.5
Deer seen: 11 (if you include the 5 at 50-75yds I busted on the way out)
In bow range: 6

Season totals:
Hunts: 5
Time in stand: 14.25
Deer seen: 27
Bow range opportunities: 20 (18 deer, 2 coyotes)
