You can chalk one up for poetic justice: Piers Morgan’s ratings are doing horrible, and he can no longer brag of being even one of the top personalities on CNN. This means that even on CNN, he’s no longer a strong contender. This embarrassment for CNN and for Morgan both.
Remember, Morgan was able to give himself a nice little boost during the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre. His tactic was simple… publicly, loudly, and obnoxiously insult and lie about the constitution, American gun control, crime statistics, and criminology in general.
This boost, however, looks like it was a kind of poison. The penalty for being out of touch with most of the country and doing a horrible job of even defending liberal ideas is that everyone will soon stop watching your show. And so they have.
Remember, Morgan isn’t an American citizen. He was essentially exiled from the UK after it became clear that he was willing to use dishonest journalism to bash UK troops in the war. Whether the war is justified isn’t the point — the point is the man is a liar and shouldn’t be allowed within a football field of a camera and a mic.
CNN, however, figured this was a great thing to do. Now they’re paying for the choice.
Here’s a video from a few months back that show Piers getting obliterated by his own show by an old rocker. This is a good sign that he should have been looking for another job at the time anyway.
