Planting season

Lost a 4 year old Persimmon this week. All dried up and crusty. Now my would be tree line has a hole in it.

Guess I'll order a mature one next Spring online to fill in the hole.

You heard it here first folks. We got our first trucks from the field today. It came from the East of us over by Circleville. Two different farmers are shelling corn! I know over by my house is still a couple of weeks out, but the areas that didn't get the rains are starting to run fields and its DRY 18%!

You won't on our farm after Saturday. This corn went in the 3rd week of May. I've even seen beans ready to be picked. Crazy early. I felt like an early fall was coming for about 6 weeks. Can't say way, just had the intuition.

I've had the grain drier running full blast at work...lots of corn coming in from the field. I'm pretty sure we'll be open this weekend.

I seen one filed of beans opened up today. No idea what the moisture was though.

Saw some corn fields near me already off. Reminded me to go get some waterfowl slips signed soon. The beans across the road look like they're almost ready.

I used to love those early harvest's. 2010 was awesome for me. By October 20th, it was pretty dead at our elevator. That year I took my 12 point the 2nd night of bow season and was spending lots of time scouting and setting up friends during the rut. Then come 2011 we were working Thanksgiving day running the Dryer and cleaning bins while shipping corn on rail cars. Frigging crazy

You know the pain... I'm excited about this!

Oh yea. It honestly is stressful as hell just wondering if you'll ever see a treestand again when your in full harvest mode. I always like working nights running our dryer. Relief would come at 6:30 a.m. During Rut time, I could be in 4-5 different stands within 20 minutes of clocking out.

I'm on seconds and usually work 12-12:30. Doesn't leave a bunch of time with a 45 minute drive to a shower and 25 minute drive to the stand. I just wait until it's all over.

Beans are turning quickly here in north central ohio. The corn is rough this year. The ones that have height and full cobs only 1/3 the kernels when peeled back. A buddy of mine that farms in Sandusky county is going to chop all if his and collect insurance. Makes $3-$4 more per bushel going that route.....
